The government warning
On 9 November 2023, the Digital Agency said it had confirmed a suspicious app masquerading as Visit Japan Web and asking for credit card details 2.
The agency says the real service does not request card information and does not ask for money 2.
Safe checks
If you entered card details
Call your card issuer and explain that you entered details in an imitation app. Ask it to monitor or replace the card.
Uninstall the suspicious app as the Digital Agency directs. Change any reused password and return through the official government page 2.
