For US online renewal, the State Department says the authorised service is opr.travel.state.gov. It warns that a business using “Gov” in its name is not necessarily authorised and tells applicants to check for a .gov ending 1.

Forms and appointments are not products
The US State Department says it does not charge a fee to fill out a passport form or make an appointment at a passport agency or acceptance facility. A request to pay for one of those items should be treated as fraudulent 3.
Private courier companies can charge for help, but the State Department says they are not part of the Department and cannot process a passport faster than applying directly at a passport agency 3.
Protect the information in an application
- Do not upload a passport scan until you have verified the government domain.
- Do not reuse an account password on a passport portal.
- Keep the application number and payment receipt from the official service.
- If you used an unofficial site, ask whether it retained copies of your identity documents.
